Update your mailing address with UBC

Update your mailing address with UBC

Some people say the art of snail mail is dead, but we disagree. There is no substitute for the tingly feeling you get from tearing open a crisp envelope, removing its contents, and getting the good news that you’ve been waiting for – like your offer of admission from UBC.

UBC has been sending out offers since December, and yours could arrive by mail or courier any time between now and May. To make sure there are no delays or errors, please log into the Student Service Centre (SSC) and make sure the address under Personal Info > Contact Summary is accurate. You can update your address information at any time in the SSC.

When updating your address

  • Use your home mailing address where you live and will be applying for a study permit (if required). Using an address in a different location can cause problems in the study-permit process.
  • Include a phone number at the same location as your home mailing address.

Check the status of your application

While you’re logged into the SSC, you can also check your application status, which is the most up-to-date information on your application. Keep in mind that we’re currently receiving a lot of documents from students, so if you’ve recently sent in a transcript or another required document, it will take some time for it to be updated in your profile.

  1. I read on the blog that the communication address should be my home address in case I want to apply for study permit. In my personal information, the address I have put is my dad’s office address. The status on my SSC page shows admitted for the Okanagan campus. Since I will be applying for a study permit, being an international student, I think I need to change the address to my home address. I have not yet received the admission package including the offer letter from UBC. I hope changing the address at this stage will not create any confusions across the Admissions. So, should I wait until I receive the documents, and then change the address or can I change my communication address now. Please advice.

    1. Hello Raghav,

Congratulations on receiving admission to UBC. If you need to change any of your personal information, please email international.applicant@ubc.ca with the request and please include your student number. Thanks!

      I hope this helps,
      Jonathan

  2. Do send letters to International students? Or just Canadian? Thank you.

    1. Hi,
If you’re referring to letters of admission to an undergraduate program, yes, they are mailed or couriered to international students.

      Sincerely,

  3. I would like to know whether I can still allow to change my 2nd program choice now ?

    Thank you

    1. Hi Marcus,

If the program you are interested in adding is still accepting late applications, then yes, we can change your application. The list of available programs is online here. Please ensure the program you want is on the list. If it is, you can request the change by emailing admissions.inquiry@ubc.ca.

      Take care,

      Anthony

      1. Thanks for your reply Anthony
