  1. Hi,
I have a question about average admission. I am currently in my grade 12 year, and literature 12 and physics 11 are some of the course I am taking. I’m taking 5 other approval courses. I am not applying to applied sciences or sciences.
Is there a minimum I have to get in these two classes in order to get accepted? Thank you so much!

    1. Hi Cindy,

Yes, every program at UBC (Okanagan or Vancouver) have competitive minimum admission averages. We do not pre-set admission averages though, as the top students will be admitted each year based on a combination of their academics and personal profile. By the way, we publish our estimated averages online here. Be sure to select the correct campus at the top.

      Take care,

  2. Hello. I am a prospect and want to apply for the ILOT scholarship award. I graduate with 3.42 GPA on a 4.00 scale. Am i eligible for the ILOT scholarship program considering the “A” average eligibility criteria? Thanks.

    1. Hello, I cannot say specifically whether you would be eligible. The ILOT program is a competitive program, so your application would be viewed in comparison to the other applicants who have applied for this scholarship in a given year.

  3. Dear Sir/Ma’am

Currently my daughter Ms. Smrithi is pursuing her 12th grade in India and she proposes to pursue her Engineering degree(UG) from your esteemed University, her interest lies in Biotechnology – engineering. Can you help me with information pertaining to how she could seek an admission to the University, please. Kindly mention the dates and deadlines for submission of application please. In India children will complete there exams on March 31st and the results will be published in May (I week).

    1. Hello, a great place to get information on our programs and application requirements would be here: http://you.ubc.ca/ubc_programs/biotechnology/

      I hope this helps! Sincerely,

  4. Hello!
I just wanted to ask that can I come from Malaysia and apply to UBC Vancouver on this December 2017 in person for 2018 admission and if I can, when can I get my acceptance letter?Thank you so much for your help!

    1. Hello Shasha,

UBC’s application is an online application found on our website: (you.ubc.ca). Once admitted, a student will be mailed a hard-copy of their acceptance letter.

Registration for our campus tours in December is not yet open, but you can get information on taking a campus tour at UBC here: http://you.ubc.ca/tours-info-sessions/campus-tours-events/campus-tours/

I hope this helps clarify. Sincerely,

  5. Hi,
I am currently enrolled in South Alberta institution technology. I plan to apply for engineering when I graduate. Will my gpa score be considered as post-secondary transfer? On the website for consideration for admission is 3.3 for engineer.

    1. Hi Robert,

It all depends on the courses you are taking at SAIT. Typically there is very little transfer credit from a diploma program, and the best avenue to UBC Engineering is through a bridge program. We’d be happy to review your situation in more detail though and outline your options to get to UBC. Email us at recruitment.ok@ubc.ca and include an unofficial transcript, and we will get back to you promptly.

  6. I heard UBC is still accepting applications for some programs. If so which ones, and for how much longer?

    1. Hi Greg,

most programs are closed now. Further details here – https://account.you.ubc.ca/ubc/apply/apply_now.ezc

  7. Hi,
I have a question regarding to conditional offer admission requirement. I am currently having a hard time with this semester at sfu. I believe I got a D in organic chemistry which will drop my gpa from 2.78 to 2.6 or 2.5. It is still good academic standing but I am so stressed and worried because that one course may cause a revoke of admission.

    1. Hi Liam,

Typically a slight drop (0.1 to 0.2) in GPA is not enough to cause a revoke. However, there is no magical solution here. Work as hard as you can, getting help if you need it, to ensure you do as well as possible at SFU.

  8. If I accept an offer and pay the 1000 CAD, but change my plans later on. Is that 1000 CAD refundable?

    1. Hi Ahmed,

good question! Details on how the deposit works are here – UBC registration deposit.

  9. Hello,
I have 2 questions. 1. If you apply for early administration in the first semester and get accepted, are you able to start some first year courses at UBC starting second semester?
Also, if you are able to start first year courses in second semester, does a day 1/2 and term schedule at your school interfere with it?
    Thank you very much!
