Save the date for Virtual Destination UBC

Congratulations to all Canadian students who’ve received an offer of admission to UBC. Now that you’ve been admitted, you’re ready for Virtual Destination UBC!

What is Virtual Destination UBC?

If you’ve received an offer from more than one university, it can be tough to decide where you want to study in September. To help you discover whether UBC is the right home for you, you’re invited to join us for Virtual Destination UBC.

Virtual Destination UBC is a selection of online events running between March 14 and May 27. These events will help you explore what makes UBC such a vibrant place to live, play, and study. You’ll connect with current UBC students, and UBC staff members, and your faculty. Join us online for as many exciting and informative sessions as you’d like, which will help you to make your decision and prepare you for university life.

Virtual Destination UBC sessions

Your sessions include panels led by current UBC students who can tell your all about their personal experiences at UBC, as well as the opportunity to book one-on-one meetings with UBC advisors. You’ll have the chance to attend a live virtual campus tour, as well as join a drop in Q&A session about UBC.

Your parents, guardians, or chosen family can also attend, and can register for panels created just for them.

How to register

  1. Visit our information sessions page
  2. Log in or sign up to view the events.
  3. Select the event you’re interested in.

Meet your Virtual Destination UBC coordinators

Rachel

Hi everyone! It is so exciting to meet you all (virtually) and I can’t wait to get to know each of you better through the UBC Destination experience! My name is Rachel (she/her/hers) and I am in my fourth and final year as a Psychology major. I am from a very small country town called Puslinch in Ontario! Fun fact – I actually am neighbours with Justin Bieber and he waved to me once when I was sitting on my deck. It was a huge step for me moving all the way out to Kelowna for my degree, but I have loved every single moment at UBC Okanagan and am so passionate about the lovely community here. I’ve worked as a residence advisor, and also work at the Careers and Development office to help support others. I also love to explore the Okanagan and the great outdoors every way I can, even if it is taking a tumble skiing at Big White Mountain!

Karah

Hello everyone, it is so wonderful to meet you all! My name is Karah (she/her/hers), my hometown is West Kelowna, and I am in my fifth and final year of my honors degree in Biochemistry and minor in Psychology! I love to get involved and contribute to our UBC community, and alongside this new and exciting role as your Destination UBC student coordinator, I currently work as a student ambassador and a peer mentor. I also serve as a volunteer wellness peer with Health and Wellness, I am the vice president of events for the Biochemistry course union, I’m a volunteer research assistant for the CORE lab, and I am involved in lots of different committees on our campus such as the Society of Scholars Advisory Committee, the Life Raft Debate Advisory Committee, and the meal share Program.

Harshitha

Hello everyone! It’s very exciting to meet you all! My name is Harshitha (she/they) and I am in my second year as an English and Psychology double major. I was born in India but mostly lived and grew up in Uganda. I just moved to Kelowna and UBC Okanagan last fall, and it’s been amazing. Since I completed my first year online, I was looking forward to being on campus and getting involved this year. I worked as a Jump Start orientation leader in the fall and loved the experience of working with new students and being able to guide them through our campus and its resources. I volunteer at The Pantry on our campus and UBC Okanagan’s chapter of Relay for Life. I spend most of my free time reading and writing. After moving to Kelowna, I also made it a mission to find the cafe with the best cold brew coffee. I look forward getting to know you all better soon!
