Presidential Scholars Awards

UBC has almost $100,000 in Presidential Scholars Awards for Indigenous secondary school students, including two renewable scholarships valued at $20,000 each, seven one-time awards valued at $5,000 each, and two renewable entrance scholarships for Bachelor of Arts students valued at $6,000 each.

For more information on how to apply, please visit the Presidential Scholars Awards page. Indigenous students who apply before the deadline will be considered for both general and Indigenous-specific Presidential Scholars Awards.

Musqueam First Nation Scholarships

To acknowledge the strong relationship UBC has with the Musqueam First Nation, the President’s Office created this community-based scholarship that will support students from the Musqueam First Nation in their undergraduate, post baccalaureate, or graduate studies. The award is valued up to $5,500 annually and renewable for up to four years.

Recipients will have demonstrated academic and leadership achievements including, but not limited to, engagement in the arts, athletics, school, and/or their community. Recipients will be selected based on their ability to demonstrate their openness to continuing to learn who they are, where they come from, and their responsibility in enriching and carrying forward knowledge in their community and in the world.

For more information on how to apply, please visit the Musqueam First Nation Scholarship page.

UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance Awards

The UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance Award program assists students in transition from secondary school and other post-secondary institutions to UBC. The purpose of this program is to support academically qualified students who show an interest in joining the UBC community, but who would not otherwise be able to attend without significant financial assistance. Through the program, new students can access a variety of one-time and renewable awards of up to $80,000.

For more information on how to apply, please visit the UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance Award page. Indigenous students who apply before the deadline will be considered for both general and Indigenous-specific Centennial Scholars Entrance Awards.

Indigenous Awards

If you are Indigenous (First Nations, Inuit, and/or Métis), you’re also eligible for a range of dedicated scholarships, bursaries, and awards specifically for Indigenous students. The value, criteria, and deadlines vary by award, so please review details carefully.

Program-specific Indigenous awards

Lindsay and Elizabeth Gordon Award in Health Sciences

The Lindsay and Elizabeth Gordon Award in Health Sciences is for Indigenous students who are pursuing a degree in any area of health science on UBC’s Vancouver or Okanagan campus. This award is made on the recommendation of the Centre for Excellence in Indigenous Health.

The Spitz Family Awards for Indigenous Women

A cornerstone of the Spitz Fellows Program is The Spitz Family Awards for Indigenous Women. These are renewable awards of $10,000 per academic year, with additional funding available for Fellows, based on financial need, for other student expenses. The program recognizes direct-entry and transfer students who demonstrate academic achievement, community engagement, tenacity, leadership skills, and service to others.

Need help with financial planning?

Having a financial plan is just as important as having an academic plan. We have online resources and advisors to help you. If you are an Indigenous student who requires help with financial planning, awards, or sponsorship billing, please contact:
