Dates and deadlines

As a UBC applicant, you have a number of important deadlines to meet. Please carefully review the following list and frequently check your email as well as your application status at the Student Service Centre.

2017

January 15

Summer Session application deadline

Deadline to apply for 2017 Summer Session (May to August). However, the application will remain open for visiting, unclassified, and Access Studies applicants.

Application deadline

Deadline to apply for 2017 Winter Session (September to April).

 

January 31

Documents deadline

Canadian post-secondary document deadline for official interim transcripts.

 

February 1

Course completion

Final course completion date for distance and distributed online courses.

 

February – April

Submit your grades

BC applicants, please visit the Student Service Centre to self-report your grades.

Ontario applicants, please submit your OUAC number with your application so we may receive your grades electronically.

Out-of-province applicants, please upload your high school transcripts via the Student Service Centre.

 

February – May

Admissions decisions

Admissions decisions are made for most applicants.

 

March 15

ELAS and out-of-country documents

Deadline for post-secondary students applying from the United States to submit required documents to UBC.

Deadline for secondary students applying from outside of Canada to submit required documents to UBC.

Deadline to submit documents in support of meeting the English Language Admission Standard (ELAS).

 

April 15 – 30

Scholarship announcements

Students who are awarded the Major Entrance ScholarshipInternational Leader of Tomorrow Award, or Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award will receive a notification.

 

May 1

Accept your offer!

Deadline for most students to accept UBC’s offer of admission and pay the acceptance deposit. (Some students’ deadline will be June 1. Please refer to your letter of admission or the Student Service Centre to find your assigned date.)

Submit housing applications

Deadline to submit housing applications to be eligible for priority access. (Some students’ deadline will be June 1. Please refer to your letter of admission or the Student Service Centre to find your assigned date.)

 

Early May

Study permits

We advise international students to apply for study permits, as they can take up to four months to process. It is essential that you apply for your study permit as soon as you accept your UBC offer.

 

May 15

Canadian post-secondary final transcripts

Post-secondary final transcripts to be submitted by mail or electronically to UBC Vancouver Admissions office. (Final transcripts are required for conditional offers of admission. Please review your application status at the Student Service Centre for detailed information.)

 

May 31

International documents

Deadline for all out-of-country post-secondary applicants (excluding US) to submit all required documents.

 

June 1

Accept your offer!

Housing notifications

Students with a housing guarantee are notified of housing offers.

Course registration

Course registration opens for first-year students.

US students

Deadline for US students to submit final transcripts to UBC to confirm offers of admission.

 

July 15

Loans, deferrals, residence

Canadian students (citizens and permanent residents): Recommended deadline to apply for Canadian and provincial loans to ensure funds for September and to qualify for UBC’s bursary programs.

Deadline to submit requests for deferred admission.

Deadline to apply for early arrival to residence. (Jump Start and Kick Start participants do not need to apply.)

 

July 31

Out-of-province and out-of-country high school transcripts

Out-of-province applicants, please have your final official transcript mailed to UBC to confirm your offer of admission.

Out-of-country secondary school students (except those from the United States and those completing A levels), please submit final transcripts to confirm offers of admission. Check your admission letter for curriculum-specific deadlines.

US FAFSA

Deadline for US students to submit the US Loan Request Form (797 KB PDF) to UBC and complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to ensure loan funding for September.

 

August 20

A levels

Deadline for students completing A levels (British-patterned education) to submit final A-level results to UBC to confirm offers.

 

August 27 – September 1

Jumpstart

Jumpstart orientation for international students.

 

August 30 – September 2

Kick Start

Kick Start orientation for Canadian students.

 

Early September

Application opens

Online application opens for Summer Session (May to August) and Winter Session (September to April). Apply here!

 

September 3

Okanagan campus move-in day

Move-in day on UBC’s Okanagan campus. (Jumpstart and Kick Start participants will be notified of their move-in day.)

Parent Conference on UBC’s Okanagan campus.

 

September 5

First day of classes

First day of classes and all students attend Create orientation.

 

September 6

Tuition due

First instalment of Winter Session tuition is due.

 

September 15

Bursary applications

Canadian students (citizens and permanent residents): Deadline for general bursary applications.

 

December 1

Scholarships and awards

Be sure to apply by December 1 in order to be considered for the Major Entrance Scholarship and UBC Centennial Scholars Entrance Award (open to Canadian students and permanent residents). If you are an international applicant, please submit your nomination packages by this date to be considered for the International Leader of Tomorrow Award and the Donald A. Wehrung International Student Award.

First round offers admission

Direct-entry high school students who follow the Canadian curriculum and wish to be considered for first round offers of admission must apply by December 1.
