For Syahidah Binte Ismail, life at UBC is about the close friends she’s made, and about staying connected to her roots. Having attended school in Dubai and Japan, Syahidah knows what it’s like to be away from home, and understands the importance of retaining links to her culture. Syahidah is president of the Singapore Raffles Club, a social club dedicated to promoting awareness of Singapore among UBC students.

In Vancouver, Syahidah’s managed to create a second home in Gage Tower apartments, where she lives with her roommates. With her course load and many activities, you might find Syahidah in her Anthropology class, at the Student Union Building where she runs the Singapore Raffles club, or organizing events like Day of the Longboat or the Malaysia Singapore Night.
